Life Update | August 2017

– C O F F E E –

This is a very important update so listen up: I rarely go to Starbucks anymore. G A S P ! ! The reason comes in individual serving size packets and pairs nicely with almond milk & ice. Have you guessed? I still drink Starbucks coffee but in the comfort of my own home thanks to Via Instant. I know that most people know about this product, but it has been unbelievably easy to enjoy frappuccinos on days when I can’t make it to my neighborhood Starbucks. In fact, I have become so obsessed that even when I’m presented with the option to go to an actual Starbucks, I choose my “homemade” frappuccino. How crazy is that??! My favorite flavor at the moment is Sweetened Iced Coffee.

My room is small so the arrangement requires a lot of creativity. I recently had an epiphany at work regarding how I could make it feel more spacious and homey. I am happy to report that my idea worked, and I vlogged the whole process. The three-day project was exhausting but worth the effort because I feel like I have officially settled in.

I’ve been trying really hard to post consistently on both my blogs. The balance was off earlier this year because I got a paying job helping a photographer maintain her blog. I have since settled in, and I think everything is back to normal. Here are my recent blog posts:

• Misadventures in Babysitting

• Dance of the Paints | Thomas Blanchard

I love blogging & vlogging, but it does require money which I don’t have a lot of at the moment due to my status as a sales associate. I’m not exactly breaking the bank with my checks! I recently discovered a brand new website that makes it fun & easy for subscribers to support their favorite bloggers, business, vloggers, etc. Here is my Ko-fi ( pronounced like “coffee” ) link ➡️

Good news: I took part in BookTube-A-Thon 2017, my very first time doing so. Even though my camera broke on day 6 and I couldn’t continue vlogging, I did continue to participate by reading & interacting on social media. I had so much fun and can’t wait for next year! Bad news: I am in a terrible reading slump A G A I N ! ! I was in one before BTAT, and here I am right back at square one. I have the desire, but every time I attempt to read, I have to force myself to keep going. Reading is the ultimate getaway for me, and I hate being in this mood. I need to pull up my big girl pants and just do it. I’m in the middle of 6 books ( yes, SIX ), and I need to finish all of them because I have exciting books to read in October & November. I also need to make serious progress on my Goodreads reading challenge because I have only completed 26 of my 50-book challenge. Not bad but still not great. Cheer me on!!

I still hate retail. That’s pretty much it. 😂

I am counting down the seconds, minutes, hours, days, & months until my autumn vacation. I know I echo the rest of my family when I say we desperately NEED this trip.

⏰ Current Countdown: 1 month, 12 days ⏰

– W E A T H E R –

If you’re a loyal follower of my blog, you know my visceral hatred for the summer months. I love cold foods & swimming, but this season is the absolute worst. I do nothing but sweat and feel gross and uncomfortable. I would much rather be cold & snuggle up in blankets while wearing a sweater. Whether you like it or not, autumn is upon us. Even though it’s my favorite season, I am hesitant to get excited. California disappointed me last year by remaining unbearably hot until the end of the year. Please please please don’t let me down this year!! 🍂 😭 🎃

Lots of exciting news! Since my Charmed Aroma review video, I’ve been contacted by two more companies for reviews. I also have a major project in the works, something I’ve been planning for several months. I am slowly compiling products for a Bookish Gift Guide, a list of gift ideas for the bibliophiles in your life. I’ve already purchased two Jane Austen pillows and five candles inspired by A Game of Thrones, Edgar Allen Poe, Harry Potter, Romeo and Juliet, & The Princess Bride respectively. Before this video comes out later next year, there will be 1-2 review videos for various book-inspired candles; I plan to make this an ongoing series on my channel so suggestions are welcome. Last but not least, I mentioned earlier that my camera broke; thankfully I was able to replace it. The Canon Powershot G7 X Mark II has amazing quality, and I feel refreshed and excited for all the new content coming soon to my channel. Things are happening, and I’m going with flow. 🎉

| • I hope all of you have had a great summer. 🌞 I will be back soon with another post. 😘 • |

DisneyBounding Into Autumn

What is it: Disney Parks do not allow visitors to wear costumes because they might be mistaken for cast members.  DisneyBound refers to the subtle replication of Disney characters and places using street clothes.  This way, no one gets in trouble, and everybody has fun.  :)

How Did it Start:  Leslie Kalbfleisch A.K.A. Leslie Kay has imitated characters using fashion from the time she was a child.  When she finally achieved her goal of visiting Disney World with her best friend, she created a Tumblr blog to document the trip.  She called it “DisneyBound” because she was literally “Disney-Bound.”  All she had to do was post a few Disney-themed outfits, and it took less than a month for Leslie to get national recognition.  DisneyBound has its own community as well as a clothing lines dedicated to making DisneyBounding easier.  The possibilities are endless!!  (Liddane)

Moving on to part 2 of this post, I want to show you seven DisneyBound looks.  These are outfits I created from my own closet, no purchases necessary.

All the outfits are featured in my “Autumn DisneyBound Lookbook” video:

Keep in mind this is my interpretation of seven Disney characters based on what was available in my wardrobe.  The ensembles are not perfect, but they capture the spirit of the characters.  DisneyBound is supposed to be fun, not difficult or stressful.

Super Bowl XLIX

Super Bowl XLIX (Source:

I am not excited about this post, but I feel it is appropriate for the time of year.  First of all, go Broncos!!!!!  Second of all, the New England Patriots beat the Seattle Seahawks on February 1st, 2014, in Super Bowl XLIX; the final score was 28 to 24.  I was for the Seattle Seahawks because they are the lesser of two evils in my personal opinion.  I ended up with no voice and disappointment.  UGH!!!  Super Bowl 50, Denver Broncos.  I’ve said my peace.  Moving on to stats.  I am only listing the basics: Passing, receiving, & receiving.  We all know who won so no need for fumbles, penalties, and records.  Diehard fans can go to for the extra information.

MVP – Tom Brady (#12):  50 attempts & 37 completed passes.  328 yards.  4 touchdowns & 2 interceptions.  1 sack.

Russell Wilson (#3):  21 attempts & 12 completed passes.  247 yards.  2 touchdowns & 1 interception.  3 sacks.

– New England –

Julian Edelman (#11):  9 catches & 109 yards.  1 touchdown.

Rob Gronkowski (#87):  6 catches & 68 yards.  1 touchdown.

– Seattle –

Chris Matthews (#13):  4 catches & 109 yards.  1 touchdown.

Ricardo Lockette (#83):  3 catches & 39 yards.

– New England –

LeGarrette Blount (#29):  14 carries & 40 yards.

Shane Vereen (#34):  4 carries & 13 yards.

– Seattle –

Marshawn Lynch (#24):  24 carries & 102 yards.

Russell Wilson (#3):  3 carries & 39 yards.

Time to address the halftime show.  I thought Katy Perry sounded great and put on a great show.  The song choices were appropriately matched to each stage set-up, and “Firework” was the chill-inducing finale I expected it to be.  And now… the moment you’ve all been waiting for… THE COMMERCIALS!!!  Because my team was not playing in the big game, I was not as interested therefore I missed most of the commercials.  However, I saw enough of them to give you a list of my favorites and honorable mentions.  Companies were really tugging at heartstrings this year.  There were funny commercials, but the commercials that made the most impact were deep and emotional.  Interesting.

*Best Heartwarming Commercial:

Toyota –  (This commercial is all about dads, specifically the dad & daughter relationship.  It made me appreciate my dad even more!!)

– Honorable Mention:

Dove –  (Another heartwarming dad commercial)

*Best Adorable Commercial:

Nationwide Insurance –  (Mindy Kaling is so relatable!)

– Honorable Mention:

Budweiser –  (Who doesn’t love watching an adorable puppy get rescued by beautiful horses?!)

*Best Funny Commercial:

Clash of Clans –  (It’s Liam FREAKING Neeson!!  Enough said.)

– Honorable Mentions:

Sprint –  (They were not shy about calling out AT&T and Verizon.  BOOM!)

Snickers –  (Never thought I would see Danny Trejo on “Brady Bunch.”  That is quite possibly bucket list-worthy.)

*So Bad It Was Funny Commercial:

T-Mobile –  (I hated seeing a Kardashian YET AGAIN on TV, but the content was funny.  Kim K. really believes in the cause.  HAHAHA )

*Cringeworthy Commercial:

Nationwide Insurance –  (This commercial didn’t make me cringe in a disgusted way.  It’s just extremely sad!)

– Honorable Mention:

Weight Watchers –  (I’m not overweight, but seeing so many images of fatty foods made me want to join Weight Watchers. I felt sick!)

*Make It Stop Commercial:

Game of War –  (I have seen this commercial on the “Trivia Crack” app more times than I can count.  Enough already!!)

I will wrap up with a 2015-2016 prediction.  Denver Broncos, Super Bowl 50, victory.  Realistically, this is more of a wish than a prediction, but if it happens, I can take credit.  Good night readers!  I leave you with this  quote:

“Don’t walk through life just playing football. Don’t walk through life just being an athlete. Athletics will fade. Character and integrity and really making an impact on someone’s life, that’s the ultimate vision, that’s the ultimate goal – bottom line.”  – Ray Lewis
