Blogmas 2014 – Step Into the Wardrobe

Step Into the Wardrobe

My uneventful day ended with a delicious dinner at Texas Roadhouse, a cup of eggnog, and “The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe.”  Today has been a very Narnia day!  I blogged about wintry landscapes on my art blog that are reminiscent of Narnia.  Check it out here: http://laurenmichelephotography.wordpress.com/2014/12/23/artmas-2014-walking-in-a-winter-wonderland/  I wish I could actually go there, but daydreaming about a Narnian escape will have to suffice.  Can you tell I’m a reader??  I am very serious about alternate universes.  They are nothing to joke about, and everything to dream about.  Speaking of magical places, my family is going to see the third installment of “The Hobbit” on Christmas day.  We have seen each installment on Christmas day for the past two years.  I am practically jumping out of my skin from excitement.  I have heard it is the perfect ending.  Endings are so sad, but technology has provided us with DVDs so the series will live on!  Something else is coming to an end.  Tonight was the 8th and final night of Hanukkah.  It is sad to say the prayers for the last time, but I know it will be back next year.  Chanukah Sameach!  Until next year…

Stay merry readers!  Only two days until Christmas…

Blogmas 2014 – Merry Shopmas

Merry Shopmas

Happy December 3rd readers!  Despite the cloudy weather I experienced today, my Christmas spirit is not drenched (See what I did there??).  I actually enjoy cold, rainy weather.  The first half of my day was spent doing laundry.  Exciting stuff.  However, a mommy-daughter lunch at Coco’s made up for 3 1/2 hours of washing, drying, and folding.  After that, we made a quick stop at the store for some essential groceries A.K.A. salted caramel hot chocolate and Ben & Jerry’s ice cream.  What is it about the holidays that makes our shopping carts so unhealthy??  One word: tradition.  That one word can justify all things unhealthy, ranging from eggnog and hot chocolate to cookies and pies.  Well, it doesn’t really justify, but, in the spirit of Christmas, the details are blurred.  Some say “Holiday calories don’t count.”  Tell that to my body when it is screaming from pain after post-Christmas workouts.  Thank God Christmas only happens once a year.  Oh the struggle!!

Only 22 days until Christmas.  Stay merry readers!!

A Sprinkle of Nutmeg

skinny-eggnog

I am still getting over my cold therefore my diet has consisted of mostly beverages over the past two weeks.  Since I have been spending the majority of my time sipping cranberry juice, ginger ale, and peppermint tea, why not discuss beverages?  Here is my December 21st favorite:

What is your favorite holiday beverage?  I hate to be cliche, but my heart belongs to the nog.  Contrary to the title of this blog post, I do not actually put nutmeg, or cinnamon, on my eggnog.  I just fill up a Christmas mug and drink to my heart’s content.  Actually, I typically drink a mug of eggnog and eat a slice of my grandma’s chocolate bread on Christmas morning.  Breakfast of champions!  It is a nice segue into new year resolutions.  Dear God, please don’t let this eggnog and bread affect my current weight in a negative way.  Amen.

Stay merry readers!  Only 4 more days until Christmas…

Blanche Devereaux: “Hey, I think we’d get along great. I got a feeling you’re a wild woman.”

Rose Nylund: “Oh, you bet I am! I eat raw cookie dough. And occasionally, I run through the sprinklers and don’t wear a bathing cap. And at Christmas, I’ve been known to put away more than one eggnog.”
