Hello hello hello readers! I’m here to to tell you all about my galactic Christmas. My family woke up, drank coffee from “It’s A Grind”, opened presents, and got ready for our annual trek to the movie theater. My brother picked a theater in a specific city in hopes that it wouldn’t be crowded. We arrived forty minutes early and found seats in the very back of the theater with a good view of the screen. One minor detail: The theater was a small, cheesy-looking theater. Saying we had a good view of the screen isn’t significant because it was 1/3 the size of a normal movie theater screen. The room was split down the middle with approximately fifteen rows on each side and eight chairs per row. It was a brief disappointment, but once the movie started, all was well.
* * * SPOILERS AHEAD!!!!! DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVE NOT SEEN “STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS”!!!!!
Fear not! I’m not going to give a full synopsis of the movie, but I do want to share some family moments that reveal characters who appear. First of all, I had tears in my eyes and chills throughout the movie. I was so FREAKING happy!! Within the first few seconds (the classic opening crawl), I knew it was a great movie. When Chewie made his first appearance, my mom leaned over and whispered “Isn’t that the cookie??” For the next five minutes I struggled in vain to choke down my laughter, tears streaming down my face. For those who don’t get the joke, Chewbacca is a Wookie, not a Cookie. I am a Star Wars fan, but I don’t know EVERYTHING there is to know about the franchise. However, well done me because I guessed the plot twist involving Kylo Ren’s identity. I thought I had Rey’s identity figured out but soon realized that some changes were made to the story. By the end of the film, my theory had been tweaked to what I think is correct. Time will tell! As the end neared, my heart was racing in anticipation of the BIG reveal. When the hooded figure’s face was revealed, me and my brother looked at each other and simultaneously whispered “We are not worthy.” That sums up our “Force Awakens” experience and love for the Star Wars franchise.
* * * Shout-out to Oscar Isaac! I watched him as Joseph in “The Nativity Story” on Christmas Eve and as Poe Dameron in “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” on Christmas day.
Afterwards, my family ate lunch/dinner at Sizzler. FYI, the steak and lobster is okay but definitely not worth $20. The rest of the day was spent relaxing at home. A simple but memorable day.
Only 365 days until Christmas! :D :D :D :D :D
