Moment of Weakness | Blogmas 2017

It finally happened. My Scrooge veneer cracked, and I shed a Christmas tear. Yes, it was a cheesy Hallmark movie. No, I don’t feel any shame. It might’ve had something to do with staying up until 3am the night before, but we’ll ignore that detail and say that I was overcome by the spirit of December. I also want to give credit where credit is due. Finding Santa was a good movie, and that’s saying a lot considering I don’t often enjoy a new offering from Hallmark, otherwise known as Christmas Incorporated. 😂 I’ll add to the good news by announcing the arrival of grandma’s cookies. See?! December isn’t a total loss yet. My elf ears are starting to perk up, and we still have a little over one week of celebration left. 🎉

Anne with an “E”

Ever since the day I found out about the CBC/Netflix adaptation of Anne of Green Gables, I have been skeptical. I grew up with the Sullivan trilogy; if anyone asks what my favorite movie is, I answer with those three films. They are very near and dear to my heart, and it is difficult for me to accept anything else. The new series came to Netflix on May 12th. I tried numerous times to watch it but couldn’t bring myself to press play. I realize that I sound like a total drama queen, but keep in mind that I have always been compared to Anne who is the actual queen of drama. Fast forward to July 4th. I finally watched the first episode… and then the second episode… and then the third… two days later I’ve finished all seven, and I NEED MORE!!! Yes it is different from the 1985 movie, and no that is not a bad thing. The first episode was difficult to watch because I could only picture the Sullivan cast, but once I relaxed and and allowed myself to accept the changes, I was fine. Most of my favorite moments involved Anne & Gilbert and Rachel & Marilla. I hope the series continues for a very long time because I can already picture myself watching the cast grow with the story. Fellow AOGG fans, I understand the trepidation, but change isn’t always bad. If you haven’t watched Anne With an E, I highly recommend you give it a chance.

I Wish More Than Anything

Be Careful What You Wish For (Source: http://www.pagetopremiere.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/150147_769040466485782_1640208112065058341_n.png)

I know I resolved to be more consistent with my blogging this year.  I have not fulfilled that resolution yet, but I am working on it.  I have many subjects to write on so stick with me and stay tuned.  Tonight I cannot help but write about “Into the Woods” because it is my current OBSESSION.  I used all caps; this is serious!!  I saw the movie two weeks ago with some friends, and we had a great time.  Well, I did; I  can’t speak for them.  The movie was beautiful, funny, and dramatic.  The casting was spot-on, the visuals mesmerizing, and the music addictive.  I wanted to sing along the entire time, and I didn’t even know the words.  Naturally, I purchased the soundtrack, and it is all I have been listening to this week.  One of my favorite moments in the movie was Prince Charming and Rapunzel’s Prince splashing around in water singing about love-related agony.  The scene was pretty much a girl’s dream come true.  That song has been on repeat!!  I highly recommend both the soundtrack and the movie if you are a fan of musicals.  However, I caution you that this movie is not meant for  young children despite the Disney label.  Scenes such as the wolf enticing Red Riding Hood and Prince Charming kissing the baker’s wife could be scary and confusing respectively.

Until next time, dream dreams & make wishes readers!

P.S.  I wish more than anything that “Into the Woods” be available on DVD right now.

“Agony! Beyond power of speech, When the one thing you want is the only thing out of your reach.”
