10:30am – Blogging + Meet the Robinsons 💻
When Wilbur takes Lewis to the future, they fly over an amusement park called Todayland which looks an awful lot like Tomorrowland. 😉
👂 Heard: Tom Kenny as Mr. Willerstein | Aside from his very VERY long resume, Mr. Kenny is best known as the voice of Spongebob Squarepants. 🧽
👂 Heard: Adam West as Uncle Art | For older generations, he is Batman from the 1960s. For younger generations, he is Mayor Adam West from Family Guy. Since I previously mentioned Spongebob, it feels right to ackowledge Mr. West’s role as young Mermaid Man in the episode “Back to the Past.”
When Lewis doesn’t know what Mr. Robinson looks like, Wilbur tells him he looks like Tom Selleck. Tom Selleck is the voice of Mr. Robinson. 🗣️
I want to acknowledge & applaud the character Mildred. She runs the orphanage where Lewis was left as a baby. She stands by & believes in him no matter how many families walk away from adoption because they think he’s strange. What an angel! 😇 She is voiced by Angela Bassett. You might know her as Queen Ramonda from Black Panther. Wakanda forever! 👑
“Around here, however, we don’t look backwards for very long. We Keep Moving Forward, opening up new doors and doing new things… and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.” – Walt Disney
SPOILERS: This movie took me by surprise. I saw it in theaters when it first came out in 2007, but I can’t remember how emotional I was. When I say I sobbed, I mean I literally couldn’t stop crying for most of the movie. Lewis is abandoned as a baby on the front steps of an orphanage. All he wants growing up is a family. Unfortunately no one wants him because he likes to invent, & apparently that’s too weird for “normal” families. Through a series of events, he ends up in the future & falls in love with the Robinson family. Right when he’s found what he’s always wanted, they tell him he can’t stay. He still hasn’t met Mr. Robinson which is the key to the puzzle. He & Mr. Robinson are the same person! The Robinsons are his family, but in the future. He has to leave so that future doesn’t change. This story hits close to home for me. I appreciate that Disney touched on such a difficult subject because abandonment & orphanages aren’t as uncommon as you might think. 💔
12:15pm – Blogging + Treasure Planet
👂 Heard: Tony Jay as The Narrator | He is the voice of Judge Claude Frollo in The Hunchback of Notre Dame, among other Disney projects such as Beauty and the Beast, House of Mouse, Recess: School’s Out, & Talespin.
Other cast members include David Hyde Pierce as Dr. Delbert Doppler, Emma Thompson as Captain Amelia, Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Jim Hawkins, Martin Short as B.E.N., & Roscoe Lee Browne as Mr. Arrow. Laurie Metcalf, the voice of Sarah Hawkins, is Lucille Krunklehorn in Meet the Robinsons.
I forgot how cool the concept of this movie is! It’s a sci-fi adaptation of the book Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson. Captain Amelia’s ship is a nod to the author; it’s called the RLS Legacy.
Fun Fact: Deep Canvas, an animation technique used in my favorite Disney movie Tarzan, was used in Treasure Planet.
When the song I’m Still Here started playing, I recognized the singing voice immediately but couldn’t place the name. My first instinct was the Goo Goo Dolls so I looked them up. I was right! The song was written & performed by their lead vocalist John Rzeznik. It’s actually a really good song. Give it a listen! 🎶

Disney Plus on the go! This was actually my first time watching this movie. I thought the whole idea of earth becoming uninhabitable due to trash & humans getting lazy was interesting & thought-provoking. There were some adorable parts, but overall it was a bit boring. Sorry to Wall-E fans! I wanted to like it, but it just wasn’t my taste.
Final thoughts for the day: After a jam-packed day like today, would you believe I have to be up for work at 7am?? 😱 If Black Friday was bad, tonight was hell on earth. One of the worst shifts I’ve had in awhile! Praying that tomorrow morning flies by so I I can go home, climb back into bed, have a good cry, & reevaluate my life decisions. 😂 😭 I hate to end on a negative note so I’ll repeat the wise words of Walt Disney: Keep Moving Forward
